"Every drop of water you drink, to every breath you take you are connected to the sea"
Sylvia Earle - Marine Biologist, Explorer, Author
In my eyes the Ocean is the most beautiful place on Earth. Timeless Seas, peace, infinite beauty, tranquility, a weightless world and an endless source of the most weird and wonderful lifeforms. I have had the privilege and pleasure to experience this awesome world first hand and I love it.
My Aquatic Art is a humble offering to share that with the world.
Art is a fun tool to bring awareness to marine life and conservation and engage communities in social change.
"Nature has created an inexhaustible wealth of wondrous forms who beauty and diversity way exceed anything that has been created by man".
Ernst Haeckel- Marine biologist, Philosopher, Artist
"Nautical but nice..."
Anita Gardner - Aqua Adventure Artist
I was born in the Philippines and introduced to the wonderful world of the Ocean from an early age. My father was a scuba diver instructor in Jamaica and passed on his love of the Sea and all who dwell in it.
I have also always loved art, for as long as I can remember. My lovely mother used to take me to art galleries as a child. One of my earliest memories was drawing the Puget Sound for my Grampa Dave in Seattle , Washington state, USA.
My Family (and Tin Tin) have inspired me to travel and have as many adventures as possible. Which I strive to continue doing as long as possible.
Art was the only thing I liked at school and that continued through to University.
Since completion of my Interactive Arts degree in 1999 I have used art as a tool to develop environmental awareness and conservation.
I qualified as an Art Teacher in 2003. From the get go I designed the art curriculum in every school I have worked in around the theme of environmental awareness where ever possible. Please see projects on pages; Marine conservation Projects and Earth Conservation projects. Using my teaching qualification and art to work with young people to discuss climate change, solutions, and the importance of our environmental choices within our own lives and communities.
In more recent years I have focused my interest and skills on Marine conservation. I am a keen scuba diver and have had the immense good fortune of exploring the oceans and seas of the world. Being born in the Philippines and returning many times since, I am fully aware of the beauty and diversity of life in the marine ecosystems of the coral triangle, and their fragility. I had seen first hand the enormity of the devastation of coral reefs due to climate change. I am passionate about bringing awareness and finding solutions to save this habitat.
I have worked as an educational consultant on a Marine Conservation Curriculum for children and teachers in the Philippines. http://www.neetgardner.com/sea-adventure-school.html
I have focused all of my own personal art work to bring the art of the Ocean and its threatened state by climate change into public awareness and stimulate thought and action on creating solutions. http://www.neetgardner.com/exhibitions.html , https://www.instagram.com/neetgardner/ .
